The Dance of Chains: Canada's Latest Steps Toward the Abyss of Moral Comfort

In the grand theater of human mediocrity, where the masses slumber in their warm beds of democratic delusion, Canada's federal government hath unveiled yet another spectacle of moral posturing. The federal ombudsperson, that shepherd of the weak, presents recommendations that would further entangle the nation in chains of guilt and retribution.

NDP member of Parliament Leah Gazan speaks as she is joined by Special Interlocutor Kimberly Murray and Indian Residential School survivors during a press conference on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024.
Behold how they gather, these preachers of equality! How they seek to legislate away the very essence of human nature - the will to power! They create new crimes from old wounds, believing that by naming something, they might control it. But what is their femicide but another idol erected in the marketplace?

The report, bearing the righteous title "Strengthening Access to Justice for Victims of Hate Crime in Canada," emerges as a testament to the modern appetite for comfort and security. Benjamin Roebuck, the ombudsperson, speaks of protection and safety - those sweetest of poisons that render the spirit docile and dependent.

Among the thirteen commandments - for what else shall we call these recommendations? - lies the creation of "femicide" as a distinct transgression, as if the murder of women required special categorization beyond the act itself. Such is the way of the modern world, ever subdividing, ever categorizing, ever seeking to trap the chaos of existence within the neat borders of legal definition.

See how they scramble to create new laws, new definitions, new chains! They believe they can capture the lightning of human malice in bottles of legislative text. Oh, you creators of new values, what valleys of thought remain unexplored while you build your paper fortresses?

The matter of residential school denialism emerges as another battlefield where truth and power clash in the twilight of understanding. MP Leah Gazan's proposed legislation would imprison those who dare question the accepted narrative - a perfect example of how the herd seeks to enforce its morality through the threat of confinement.

In this land of the sleepers, where comfort reigns supreme and truth bows before convenience, the masses celebrate each new restriction upon thought and speech as a victory for justice. They dream their small dreams of safety while the world's great questions go unanswered, unasked, forgotten.

What cowardice masquerades as compassion! These last men, these comfort-seekers, would rather imprison a thought than wrestle with its implications. They create safe spaces while the universe laughs at their presumption.

The report calls for holding social media companies accountable for their algorithms - as if the digital mirrors of human nature could be blamed for reflecting what they see. It demands national standards, improved access, increased funding - all the usual tools of bureaucratic control that serve to further domesticate the human spirit.

In their infinite wisdom, these architects of mediocrity seek to define hate itself within their criminal code, as if the darkest passions of humanity could be contained within the pages of a legal document. They wish to remove the requirement for an attorney general's consent in prosecution, streamlining the path to punishment, making it easier to enforce their vision of moral righteousness.

Look upon their work, ye mighty, and despair! For in their quest to protect all, they protect none. In their desire to eliminate suffering, they eliminate the very conditions that might give birth to greatness.

The recommendations extend their tentacles into every corner of society - from social media to security funding, from complaint mechanisms to reconciliation initiatives. Each proposal another strand in the web that entangles the spirit, another comfort offered to those who would rather sleep than soar.

And so the dance continues, this eternal waltz of mediocrity, where each step toward "progress" is but another move away from the heights that humanity might achieve. In this land of the sleepers, where comfort is king and challenge is criminal, we witness the triumph of the last man - he who blinks and asks, "What is love? What is creation? What is longing?"

Verily, I say unto you: When justice becomes vengeance dressed in law's clothing, when truth becomes whatever the majority wishes it to be, when the spirit of humanity is bound by the chains of comfort - then we shall know that the prophecy has been fulfilled, and the last man truly rules.
